So in KH:BbS I was stuck in Cinderella world for a truly massive amount of time because I had no idea how to get to the next area. guys I got so mad tonight when the news did some story about “new scientific studies” showing that after the age of 30, women’s eggs reduce drastically. The news program kept pulling this bs like “re-evaluating when to have kids” and kept wording this bs as if LACK OF BABIES IS THE IMPENDING APOCALYPSE MAKE MORE SOON and kept using vocabulary with negative connotations like “declined” and shit and making it seem like a woman not making babies was a fucking cardinal sin. And it just. Made me so fucking mad because hey, in order to maximize baby production (am I the only one who sees the fucking problem in wording like “baby production”?) LET’S ALL GET PREGNANT AT SIX-FUCKING-TEEN.

I am so tired of this “Hetalia is offensive” debate. Because while yea, it perpetrates national stereotypes and whatnot, are we forgetting that no one takes it seriously? People research in order to play Hetalia characters in RP, not the other way around. By which I mean no one uses the thing as a textbook, or uses it to replace textbooks and/or historical books, much in the same vein no one would use the “Dear America” or “I Am America” series of fictional books as actual historical accounts.
And that’s not even taking into the account that uh, why would people who laugh and take their country’s trope with a grain of salt suddenly turn around and take the Hetalia tropes about every other country as SRS BZNSS? Seriously? I mean, seriously?
Apparently parodies/comics/anime/manga/TV are SRS BZNSS. We must never make anything funny ever again.
ETA: And gods forbid we take into account that these characters are written to be loveable. In other words, they’re liked despite their faults. Totally a message of hate right there, yo.
ETA2: Since this might easily be misinterpreted, let me clarify. Hetalia was made to mock the shit out of countries. It seems silly to haet on Hetalia because of the very thing it’s mocking. If I made a parody about women’s roles, calling me out for being misogynist or perpetration of misogynistic stereotypes would be silly, considering that’s…kinda my point in making it. Similarly, saying Hetalia perpetrates national stereotypes is silly, considering, yanno. Hetalia was written for the sake of mocking national stereotypes?
