Oh yeah almost forgot I wanted to mention this. Got my essay ~2 days back, the one I forgot to take “fuck” out of. I. Had actually forgotten to take out more than that. 8D;;
See, the prof makes us write “cover letters,” explaining our process of writing the essay (this is a workshop class), and I’d written some random crap in my cover letter, that went like this:
My usage of the word “anti-gay” is really for a personal reason. In my experience, “homophobe” is less powerful because the suffix “-phobia” is attached to a more clinical, scientific sense. “Anti-gay” makes a statement: those who are opposed to gays. The word is rendered even more powerful by it’s being a hyphenate, and not a fused words, which transmutes it so the two words may not be as easily recognizable, and the hypen suggests a relationship between the two words that is lost if they were separated into two words. (not that anti is a word in itself but that’s beside the point)
