The weird thing…

Yesterday night, before I turned on the computer at the middle of the night to watch Avatar, I had this crushing string of emo thoughts. Looking back, I think the trigger may have been the shock of Allen’s hair (or lack thereof). No, rly.

Everyone’s been raving about Aang’s firebending teacher, but I don’t think he’ll have one, at all. More on this in the proper hours of the morning/afternoon, if the latest episodes don’t prove me wrong.

EDIT: So about that firebending teacher. After the end of Book Earth, I was like, “wait, guys, remember that Jeong-Jeong’s still alive.”

But after watching Book Fire, the more I become convinced that Aang isn’t going to have a firebending teacher. Because while the last books were all building up to this glorious fight, several of the Book Fire episodes were not about fighting; they were about reform. In “The Headband,” Aang taught the oppressed kids to dance. When he had to get away, the kids helped him by tying their own sashes around their heads to confuse the teachers. Aang’s legend is not so much about Aang the Avatar, it’s about other things, like when Aang learned Roku’s history and gleaned the message that everyone, in the end, are people. And I keep getting this feeling like Zuko will become Aang’s firebending arm. Especially with what Iroh said, about Zuko being their redemption or something (‘course, Iroh doesn’t know Aang’s still alive, either.) And this bridges with why the show has focused on both Aang and Zuko from the very beginning: instead of having a previously-thought villian suddenly (and sometimes randomly) change his mind, we see how Zuko gets there. This is Zuko’s legend as much as Aang’s, which I think is important.

…If that makes any sense.

It’s probably too late, anyway, since the last ep, 3×09, us the day before the invasion. While I have no doubt there are a gajillion things that will happen during or after the invasion, the time of preparation is pretty much over, which reduces the likelihood of a “teacher” stepping in this late in the game. And if they do, it’d be brief, like Sokka’s swordmaster.

This episode was so fanservice-y! Swimwear! Party-wear! And I loved it. <3333

Man, do all Avatar old ladies speak in concert? It’s like listening to a frickin choral reading….

I laughed when Zuko slung off his robe/cloak thing and all the birds were flying by in the background. And that after the Zuko/Mei awkwardness, too!! xDD (And although this sounds really weird, I’m even becoming fond of the couple. Like, whut. o_o;;;)

Azula+Zuko teamwork is win++++ <3333

Azula is hot with her hair down. <33

Azula’s weird-ass comments are awesome. “Um, cause it’s so sharp.” xDD And that irked look on her face. <3

Whoe. Azula-Tai Li heart-to-heart. Azula being a girl (and not, say, monster). Azula being nice to Tai Li (like friend and not lackey). I’m…flabbergasted. Though I guess that’s why there was so much of that “reveal your true nature on Ember Island” stuff in the script, even though the fact that they were on vacation would’ve done that, easily. But they’re acting so out of context that I guess they thought they needed to reinforce it.

“Together, we will be the strongest couple in the world. WE WILL DOMINATE THE EARTH!” xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Oh, Azula.

Typical that as soon as I become fond of this couple, they break up. ~sigh~
Um. never mind. False alarm? yep, false alarm.

Sokka the long-haired, w00t!!

Whoe. Campfire confessions. At first I thought Azula’s lack of sob story would make her a little more sinister, but it was great writing by making her say what she did. And campfire confessions makes for an awesome bonding scene, where only these kids could think of trashing the party as “memorable.” =_=;; Loved the still at the very end, though. That was hottttttt. Also worked to flesh out Tai Li and Mei, which was awesome.
