tintinn

September 30th, 2008 No comments

Otay, Sounds of Bells portal is (finally) closed until further notice, so I can revamp. Phew. (RO, in particular, is frickin outdated. To be honest, I’m not sure why I have it…eljay is much more convenient for eljay-icon posting. srsly. And I’m still having problems with LO, mostly in that I’m just too lazy to do the work. One more reason why I need to learn PHP. But it’s not going to be as easy as learning CSS, I wager, as most of the databasing stuff gives me a headache. ;_; )

…I should post somewhere on my home page that tintinn’s dead right now. :< All I've been posting to is eljay. Maybe I should've taken that into account before I insisted on having a domain... ><;;

backing up RO is a pain

April 5th, 2008 No comments

because I actually move folders and things into folders, so if I’m not careful, I end up with duplicates. A lot. =_= So usually, I have to scroll down the list of items and move things accordingly and stuff. My lazy method is delete the folder from Zack/Roxas, and then move the folder over (again) from my hard disk. :| I wonder if there’s an easier way to do this? ._.

Backing up my Writings is even more annoying, because once a fic is posted, I move it from Unfinished into its fandom folder. Which means it really is just easier to just delete it from Zack/Roxas and copy it over again, instead of trying to puzzle or juggle through what I moved. =_=;;

ETA: oh gods, I just realized just how much LO, at the moment, FAILS as an archive of my fics. xD;;; I have to get LO up and running and up to date soon, srsly.

NGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

April 4th, 2008 No comments

would you believe I still have not coded the 89 Gekiranger icons from, like, weeks ago?! (not to mention all the ones after that?!) |||OTL When it comes to coding icons to RO, I find myself inexplicably lazy, even though, for the most part, it’s pretty easy and tedious. Maybe because it’s so tedious. ngh. OTL

omg, Sarah, thank you~~~

March 28th, 2008 1 comment

i would put like 50 on each page and put links to other other pages with more icons on them.right now, your icons are ~10 kb each.

each time your page loads that uses like 1 mb up your bandwidth right?
(i might be wrong bout this; i’m not that knowledgeable when it comes to bandwidth and page accesses and i don’t know how image caches factor in)

plus, if you allow people to hotlink to your icons, that takes up more bandwidth every time the icon loads in like a forum page or something

however, if you have plenty of bandwidth to spare, then go right ahead and do it. just hope that no one on dialup comes to your icon page. wait, do people have dialup anymore, or was that wiped out of existence years ago?

Where would you like me to ship your intarnets? :DD

And putting the 50 page and a “more” link is an awesome idea. Is there something wrong with me that I didn’t think of it? xD;;

@that dial-up thing: You would think so, right? But I have actually met people who still use dial-up. whoae. @_@

Oh, and my comments got cut off on your blog. ;_; But since I didn’t want to spam that post anymore, here’s the full comment:

whoa, that was a lot of pages. xD Not that I minded.

For some reason, that photo makes me happy. I have no idea why. …>_>;;

@FFX: the voice acting in this game made me itch and squirm. ><;; How do you stand it? Or are you just not as obsessive about voices as I am? :D;;

LOL @ your Digimon obsession. xDD

Remind me not to put > < in your comments. ><;;

Random Oblivion

March 26th, 2008 1 comment

…is going to get problematic soon. If I code the 89 from a few days back, the Gekiranger section will already have 100+ icons in it. Granted, they’re small images, but 100+ of them? Is that enough to lag slow servers? Will I need to sort the icons within Gekiranger by character? Pls advise.

Also, I really need to find a better organization for the wallpaper. Or should I make RO into just an icon archive and host wallpaper somewhere else? Plz advise.

Also: the name. |||OTL I should rename RO (and LO), if only just to make it sound a little less lame….

Library Oblivion

March 26th, 2008 No comments

…giving me a headache, as usual. I thought I could put all my files onto a blog thing and stuff, but I guess it doesn’t work that way (of course it wouldn’t be that easy… =_=;;)

First option: try harder. There’s gotta be a way I can make a blog look like a normal site, while functioning like a blog, sans the post-style index, right?

Second option: Struggle more with the current iframe thing

Third option: Screw the iframes. Include a simple table (menu) into every fic. (It works for RO….)

Fourth option: Break LO

Now, I don’t really want to do option #4. Simply if only so I can have a full (“full” as in “all from about ~3 years back”) archive of my fics posted. If only because I can’t post a full archive anywhere else I have an account (ff.net, dA, etc.) ._.

KITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITAKITA

In other words: why hello there, tintinnabulations. I thought I’d never see you again. Good to have you back.

[ Good to be back. ]

Can you tell what exactly happened there? For a while there, I must admit I was quite frazzled. I couldn’t reach you on the usual lines. My eljay got spammed (by me) while I was engaging the search for you.

[ Well, I'm not sure myself. One minute I was normal, yanno displaying all the usual stuff. Then, all of a sudden, I got ambushed! Didn't know what it was or how it got there. I tried to reach you, but all my communications were blocked; I couldn't send anything. ]

Yeah, on my end, too. Even the ftp was broken, would you believe?

[ Yeah, I can believe that. If you had, you probably would've found the intruder and the problem would've been solved much faster. I suppose. ]

You “suppose.” ~sigh~ Even you don’t trust me to handle things. I bet you thought it was my fault it showed up.

[ Wee~~ll... ]

It was not! It had nothing to do with me! I love you!

[ Can't be a coincidence that right before it happened, you-- ]

Coincidence!

[ Sure. ]

~twitch~ Anyway. Back to work.

[ Already on it. Alas, but I am tireless-- ]

Shut up.

too many stylesheets!

March 17th, 2008 No comments

- Random Oblivion has too many stylesheets. ><;; And because I suck at naming (unless it's really obvious), I have no idea what some of them do. "Weather" doesn't look like it's attached to anything. I wonder what I made it for. ._.

LOL the "category" stylesheet only has two lines of code. xD;;;;;;;;; It’s funny because it isn’t necessary. I can copy+paste those two lines into a global style instead of using a linked stylesheet.

- There’s gotta be a better way to code icons. |||OTL I keep thinking I should use divs, like the icon table generator I use. It occurs to me that the reason my icons look bleh on RO is because they need more space. But my current coding is very unstable; it’d take hours hours to undo all of it. ><;; ETA: Messed with the table instead. SHAKKINKIN!! Sucess! Breathing room! Don’t know what to do about the wallpapers, though.

- ETA: Finished! Clicky to see the changes. (If you haven’t been there for a while, though, you won’t notice much of a difference. =p )

…I seriously need to update RO

March 9th, 2008 No comments

Along with the Gekiranger ones, I also have not coded the Yuugiou, FFXIII+, and SC ones.

|||OTL

I’m going to need to separate the icons into pages now; even just coding the Gekiranger ones, the page is going to be huge and will lag slow servers like crazy. |||OTL …Actually, currently, it’s only 7KB. Not like I know what the “limit” is, though. But that page is going to be pretty long, anyway.

Not to mention I had to revamp LO to begin with. Yes, I still haven’t done it. Gah.

Random Oblivion re-vamped

January 25th, 2008 No comments

Still not very good, but at least it’s better. A better organizational thing to do would be to put every category into its own page, but doing that right now would negate everything I just did. >_> (Plus it’d likely involve iframes and whatnot, since separating all of the pages would then entail more pages than I’d like to go into. ;;_;; I just can’t win.)

…Library Oblivion kinda pisses me off now, a little. The layout is…wonky. And I keep meaning to rename this place, anyway. ~headache~ And no SSI support on top of that. (Thanks for the info, Sarah-babay! But Yahoo’s a bitch.) I found a way around it, but I kinda don’t like the layout anymore. I think it may be because this blog is so simple and airy, and stuff, and LO, in contrast, is so…contrasty. :|

Oh, and…excuse these posts? I’m always going to be complaining about something on Sounds of Bells. ;_;

…Might just scrap tintinnabulations altogether. :/

don’t throw it away!

But it costs ~$13/mo, and I’m not really doing anything useful with it. ~tear~

why don’t you just switch hosts?!?!
yahoo’s a horrible webhost!

It is. But I have thought of a way around the no SSI issue, but really, it’s really my lack of skill/knowledge in HTML that I can’t make sites as awesome as I want them. 8)

Thanks for the support, though, <3

moar coding woes

December 27th, 2007 2 comments

Just spent a brief time converting (a backup of) the LO index to divs (instead of tables)! What did I achieve? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. OTL There’s an overflow extension that divs have, but…that doesn’t help me. It looked cool, but there’s still the problem of multiple pages+one easy-to-change layout. sigh. I still don’t even know what my current problem is; back when I was learning it with Mr. D, (my Web Design teach), the problem didn’t come up. :<

And anyway, using an iframe was problematic to begin with; some browsers don’t support iframes. OTL I may have to fall back on going into every single fsucking page to change the layout, sigh.
